The RWE Npower plc and E.ON UK Plc Joint Venture, which owns land at Wylfa on Anglesey, has appointed a new Chief Operating Officer for its UK new nuclear build programme.
Alan Raymant brings his experience of leading the renewable energy generation arm of E.ON UK plc, and is at present Director of Operations and Asset Management for E.ON's Distribution division in the UK.
The E.ON RWE joint venture, which was successful during the recent
NDA online land auction in April 2009, has set up two companies, Bow Bidco Wylfa Limited and Bow Bidco Oldbury Limited, to manage the programme for the two sites at Wylfa and Oldbury respectively.
Alan Raymant will head up an ambitious project which envisages providing around 6GW of new nuclear capacity as a part of the UK's new nuclear build programme.
While early groundwork investigations have already started at the Oldbury site in South Gloucestershire, no indication has yet been made regarding the timetable for Bow Bidco Wylfa Limited's work on Anglesey.
Indeed, in June at a Paris nuclear energy conference, RWE Nuclear Power Division vice President Hartmut Pamme, could not give a categorical answer as to when a final decision to build new plants in Britain would be taken.
