MP Calls for Island Projects Fast Track

Anglesey MP Albert Owen has called on the county council to fast track infrastructure projects in order to help the ailing local economy.
Mr Owen has highlighted a number of areas where the local authority could invest in a way that would boost the struggling construction industry.
Recently the Welsh Assembly Government was allocated £140 million by the Treasury to help stimulate the Welsh economy.
It is essential that Anglesey County Council makes a good bid for a slice of this extra funding.
Mr Owen is calling on the council to look again at putting together a bid for the Island Games, which could act as a stimulus to bring in some more private sector investment.
Another area where the local MP is keen to see extra investment is on building a new berth for cruise ships at the port of Holyhead.
The island has seen a steady stream of cruise ships visiting Holyhead in recent years, but there is a risk that Liverpool, with its new berthing facilities, could steal a march.
