Menai Bridge Celebrates Fair Trade Status
by Lis Perkins
(Menai Bridge)
Menai Bridge recently gained the status of Fair Trade Town, the first on Anglesey.
The status was awarded on 8 May by the Fairtrade Foundation following some 18 months’ work by a small local group.
An event to celebrate this new status will be held in the foyer of the Co-op, Mona Road, Menai Bridge, on Saturday, 26 July, from 10am – 12noon.
There will be an opportunity to taste Fairtrade products such as tea, coffee, chocolate and different fruits.
At 11am, Dr John Perkins, the Mayor of Menai Bridge, will receive a certificate on behalf of the town to mark the new status and he, in turn, will distribute certificates to the businesses that use and sell Fairtrade goods locally.
Everyone is invited to join us at 11am on this special day to share in our celebration – or otherwise please come along during the morning at any time that’s convenient for you.
