Land Development Near Wylfa Nuclear Power Station

With nuclear energy moving up the UK energy debate, we now see that the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority (NDA) has invited developers to make proposals for new nuclear build at Wylfa on Anglesey.
Council Leader, Councillor Gareth Winston Roberts has said that three power companies have already expressed an interest in such a project.
Wylfa is among the sites being sold off by the NDA following the Government's strategic decision earlier this year to invest in new nuclear build.
All eyes will be on the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) to see if they will give the green light for Wylfa as part of the new nuclear strategy.
The British Energy owned site at Hinckley Point in Somerset is among the favoured sites for a new reactor, and French Energy giant, EDF, has expressed an interest in that location for its new pressurised water reactor (PWR).
Up to four new reactor designs are being looked at by the UK nuclear authorities and a decision is expected soon as to which one is to be granted a licence.
Given the delays experienced in the past with nuclear build, the pre-licensing stage was seen as crucial in making the process run more smoothly.
