Horizon Public Exhibitions North West Wales
by Steve Jones
(North Wales)
A series of public exhibitions will be held by Horizon Nuclear Power across North West Wales during November
This is an ideal opportunity for people on the island and across North West Wales to learn more about the very latest developments on the proposed new nuclear power station, Wylfa B.
The plan would see either a two or three reactor nuclear power station built on adjacent land to the south and west of the existing Magnox North operated plant at Wylfa.
Among the topics which local people will be able to discuss with representatives of Horizon Nuclear Power and other parties, are issues of highways and transportation, accommodation for construction workers, job creation and and skills training.
The company has offered to build a
by-pass around Llanfachraeth on the A5025 to Cemaes.
Horizon will also be available to talk about the various feasability
tests carried out on land at Wylfa over the past twelve months.
When fully completed and operating at near full capacity the new nuclear plant would be capable of generating around three times the electricity of the present
Wylfa power station.
A key aspect of this major power project will be ensuring the newly installed generating capacity is adequately connected to the electricity grid system.
National Grid plc representatives will be available at the exibitions to discuss with visitors the company's role in this key
stage of the new development, as well as its role more generally in providing infrastructure for the transmission of electricity.
