If you want a quiet, rural caravan park on Anglesey then Penrhos caravan site near Brynteg may be what you are looking for.
Open between late March and late October, this Caravan Club location on the eastern side of the island is ideal for exploring the nearby beaches, coastline and numerous attractions.
Awarded 5 stars under the Wales Tourism Touring Park scheme, the Penrhos site has 90 pitches available, of which 52 are hardstanding. The maximum length of caravan or motor home allowed is 11.6 metres.
This caravan park has toilet and shower facilities available including provision for parents and toddlers. Children must be supervised at all times by adults.
There is also a toilet and shower facility for disabled guests, and a key is available at the Reception.
Laundry facilities include wash, tumble and spin driers as well as an ironing board.
As for moving about the caravan site, there is a speed limit of 5 mph for cars, while bicycles, scooters and skateboards can also be used but not on footpaths or near the toilet facilities.
And while dogs are welcome, they must be kept on a lead at all times.
The member fees for Penrhos in 2009 vary depending on when you book, but range from £3.90 to £5.50 for adults, £1.30 to £2.10 for children and between £4.20 and £6.95 for a pitch.
How to get there:
Penrhos Caravan Site (LL78 7JH) is close to the village of Brynteg. When you take the turning off the A55 (Junction 8) after leaving the Britannia Bridge crossing, follow the signs for Amlwch (A5025).
When you enter the village of Benllech, take the left turning (B5108) for Brynteg, and when you enter this village, take the left turn (B5110) for Llangefni and the site is about one mile on your left.
There are many attractions you can visit during your stay at Penrhos Caravan Park, including the World Heritage Site at Beaumaris Castle or the Holyhead Breakwater, which is a listed building, and the longest sea wall in the UK.
